Tell us about a subject you enjoy studying - Post 8

One of the subjects that I have enjoyed studying is called "Physiological and pathological chemistry" It is one of the subjects that I have this semester, it is about the molecular level of diseases, for example, what are the chemical mediators (mainly different types of proteins). ) that are related to the onset, development and conclusion of asthma, cancer, phenylketonuria, atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) etc.

What I like about this subject is that it is what I like about biochemistry, literally, knowing the why of diseases from the smallest and from there to look for how to cure / treat them. In the course of the semester I have learned about intracellular signaling pathways and extracellular mediators of diseases, and sometimes how to put it into practice in everyday life, for example the other day I felt drowned (I am asthmatic) and I did not walk with my inhaler and I was working to go find it or go buy one, but remember what type of molecule is the active principle it has and I realized that with a high dose of caffeine it could reach a similar effect and I supplied it with a rich energy (not recommended to try at home, visit a doctor) I think it worked, but it may have been a placebo effect xd. I always saw the last few years as far away, and I thought that if with the common plan it was difficult for me to go through dragging the subjects, the last years would be terrible, and I was always afraid of the subjects of the last years, they still do it in reality, but in this particular one, in reality my fears were real, because although it is a subject that is fair to me, it is very content and very specific.
